NOW-ID & UMOCA PRESENT: it's not cracker
It’s Not Cracker, the title of our contemporary, abbreviated rendition of The Nutcracker, evokes the original in familiarity and seasonality, but note that it will be different – contemporary and unique, fun, diverse, serious and maybe even a little bit twisted.Segments of the Tchaikovsky suite will be extracted from the ballet as the focal center around which the movement, fantasy and magic will be explored. The Tchaikovsky will be extended, mixed and added to by DJ Artemis and others, and paired with dancers Brad Beakes, Tara McArthur and corps dancers from the B-Boy Federation... all choreographed by Charlotte Boye-Christensen. Dynamic contrasts in setting, music and dance will be staged within the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art’s main gallery.
